Lamezia Terme Airport at a glance

The region lists three commercial airports: Lamezia Terme, Reggio Calabria and Crotone. The Lamezia Terme operator uses the code SUF. This page covers Lamezia Terme.

The key point is simple. There is no train terminal at the airport. Trenitalia describes the trip as a train to Lamezia Terme Centrale plus a bus between the station and the airport, in either direction. For a combined ticket, search for 'Lamezia Terme Aeroporto' as the station name. The airport stop is on Viale Rodolfo Imbrogno, about 50 m from the arrivals exit.

By bus and train: step by step

The route most visitors without a car take.

1. Walk to the bus stop

The stop is on Viale Rodolfo Imbrogno, about 50 m from the arrivals exit. The Multiservizi shuttle is line 90, and the timetable PDF has no issue date, so check the current times locally.

2. Ride to Lamezia Terme Centrale

The bus takes you to the main station. Search for the combined Airlink ticket if you want one fare for the whole trip. Onboard fares are listed at €2.50 in one place and €3 in another, so carry small change if you pay on the bus.

3. Take the train

Trains leave from Lamezia Terme Centrale along the coast and toward the long-distance network. A fast train example from the 2026 timetable: the Frecciarossa 9642 leaves at 10:15 and reaches Torino Porta Nuova at 19:16, with a seat reservation required. Treat it as an example, not a daily promise.

4. Check holidays and the season

Line 90 runs on all days of the week, with limits at Christmas, New Year, Easter and 1 May. The timetable PDF does not show an issue date, so confirm the times a few days before you fly. Summer extras are covered below.

The coast from the old town of Tropea

To Tropea and Pizzo

For Tropea and Pizzo, plan on the airport bus to Lamezia Terme Centrale and a change to the coastal train there.

One timetable example, in the direction toward Lamezia: regional train 5486 leaves Tropea at 20:15, reaches Pizzo at 20:53 and Lamezia Terme Centrale at 21:17. That is 38 minutes to Pizzo and 62 minutes to Lamezia Terme Centrale. The timetable runs until 12 December 2026, and the train does not run on public holidays. This is one example and not a connection guarantee, so check the full timetable and allow time for the bus.

The summer extras are over. The 32 additional airport to station bus runs ended on 6 September 2026, and so did the weekend night trains via Tropea. Do not rely on either in autumn.

Car hire and driving to Tropea

A car is an option if you plan to visit several places along the coast. The airport lists a car rental section, but you set the price, deposit and driver rules with the rental company. Ask about the deposit, which cards it accepts and the minimum driver age before you book.

In Tropea, check the parking signs on arrival. The municipality reported that an administrative court decision suspended the new parking regulation and the parking plan until 21 October 2026. That does not mean parking is free or that new fares apply. What applies after that date is not announced, so look at the local signs.

See the pages on Tropea and Capo Vaticano for what to do once you arrive, and where to stay for the choice of base.
