The main kinds of Calabria tour
Most organized trips in Calabria start on the Tyrrhenian coast, where Tropea harbor is the base for boat trips along the Costa degli Dei. Walking tours, tastings and excursions run from several other towns. Before you compare prices, decide which type you want. The table below sums them up, and the sections after it give the details for 2026.
Operators publish their own prices, dates and conditions, and these change with the season. The figures below are the ones published for 2026 at the time of writing. Treat them as a guide, and confirm the final price before you pay.

Boat trips from Tropea in detail
The coastal boat ride between Tropea and Capo Vaticano, with times, prices and conditions.
Times and what is included
One operator at Tropea harbor runs a trip of about 3 hours, leaving at 9:30 am and 2:30 pm. Check-in is 30 minutes before departure. An aperitif and snorkeling equipment are included. The stop at Formicoli can be replaced by Riaci because of weather or traffic.
Prices in 2026
An adult pays €40, children aged 3 to 12 pay €35, and children from 0 to 2 are free. From 10 to 17 August the published prices rise, to €45 or €55 for adults and €40 or €50 for children, depending on availability. Lower starting prices may appear for other departures, so look at the final price at checkout.
Cancellation and access
Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before departure. The trip is not suitable for wheelchair users.
A second operator
Another operator lists a coastal trip of about 3 hours at €50 for adults and €25 for children aged 6 to 12, leaving at 9 am and 3:30 pm, with an aperitif included. Confirm the meeting point and the age rules for children when you book.
What you can expect to see
The coast of Capo Vaticano has bays and beaches, and a trip may include Praia i Focu. Sightings of dolphins or turtles are never guaranteed, and the sea decides whether a stop is possible.
Capo Vaticano →Other tours and excursions
Land tours help on days when the sea is rough.
Stromboli and the Aeolian Islands
Boat day trips to Vulcano, Lipari and Stromboli leave from Tropea, and there is also a night trip to Stromboli. They take most of a day or more. Read what is included before you book, because a landing fee and food are not covered in the listings.
Pizzo, with a tartufo tasting
A half-day tour from Tropea takes you to Pizzo and includes a tasting of the local specialty. Entrance fees to the sights are not included. The page on Pizzo lists the prices of the castle and the rock church.
Scilla and Chianalea
A short tour combines the myth of Scilla with the Castello Ruffo and the fishing quarter of Chianalea. The castle ticket is part of that listing. On your own, the castle costs €3 in 2026.
Scilla →Reggio Calabria and the Riace Bronzes
A city tour of about 3 hours visits the national museum with a licensed guide and walks through the old town. Check whether your ticket for the museum is part of the price. On your own, the museum costs €10 for adults in 2026.
Reggio Calabria →Tastings and cooking
Among the available tours are a wine and food tasting with six wines and a buffet of Calabrian specialties, a winery visit at Cirò, a bergamot farm tour near Reggio and a cooking class with lunch in the Sila. They suit a slow day, and a few of them need a car or a pre-arranged transfer. The page on Calabrian food explains what you will taste.
Sila excursions
A guided quad tour through nature lasts one to two hours and needs a driving licence of category A or B. In winter, a guided snowshoe tour for families is offered. The Giganti della Sila forest is closed, so do not book a tour that promises to enter it.
Sila →What to check before you book
The descriptions differ more than the prices do.
Where you start
Check the meeting point on the confirmation. A pier, a harbor office and a town square can be far apart, and a hotel transfer is often not included.
What the ticket leaves out
Entrance fees, food, drinks and landing fees are often extra. The listing says what is included.
Prices for children
The age bands differ between operators. Ask which fare applies to your child before you pay.
Weather and the sea
Boat trips depend on the sea. Read the cancellation rule and the policy if the operator changes the route.
Plan the rest of your trip
Tours work best when they fit the season and your base.
